An afternoon spent rambling through the woodland and pastures surrounding Arnside and Silverdale, a day of green fields and dappled shade, greeted by the first intimations of Autumn, ending with a breezy walk along the coast.

Our route from Arnside followed the Limestone Link Footpath through the dappled shade of Underlaid Wood, pausing at the Fairy Steps for a brew before heading to Slack Head, through Slack Head with tarmac under foot to enter the fields at Leighton Beck Bridge, via green pastures bordered by limestone walls we soon reached Hawes Water a gem in Silverdale's crown, onwards to Waterslack where we enter Eaves Wood to enjoy stunning views from King William's Hill, enough of woodland and farmland, enough of walking through fields full of bovine beasts the boss made the decision to head back along the edge of Arnside Park on cliffs washed by the sea, so with spectacular views across Morecambe Bay, a cool wind blowing off the Irish Sea we made our way back to Arnside for a meal in the BIG CHIP Cafe, and very good it was.
