Dallam Park, Beetham and Haverbrack.
Start. Milnthorpe.
Route. Milnthorpe - Dallam Park - Beetham - Whin Scar - Haverbrack - Dallam Park - Milnthorpe.
Notes. With promised bad weather for tomorrow (Sunday) coupled with the fact I was at work last night I decided on a afternoon ramble through Dallam Park, I bribed Sue into coming along with the promise to visit the Tea Room in Beetham.
From Milnthorpe we took the way marked path through Dallam Park, it wasn't long before we descended to Beetham exiting the park at the Heron Corn Mill, a narrow bridle way on the right lead to Church Street, here we turned left to enter the village and make our way to the Tea Room. On finishing lunch we re-traced our steps to the last house on our left, here a footpath leads up a field to access the Old Coffin Route through Underlaid Wood, this ancient track leads to The Fairy Steps then on to Arnside, with Arnside off our route today we wandered north from the Fairy Steps to reach Cockshot Lane, a short walk over tarmac saw us enter Haverbrack Woods. After a short excursion through woodland a leafy lane lead into the small hamlet of Haverbrack, from here we descended into Dallam Park to re-trace our steps to Milnthorpe.
The Tea Room can be found near the bottom of Church Street above the Old Post Office, at present it's only open weekends but makes a great change from lunch in the pub or coffee and sarnies above Whin Scar.
